     This November 8 men's and women's teams competed in St.Thomas’s most anticipated sporting event of the year, Paradise Jam. After damage from storms in 2017 UVI facilities were not able to accommodate the tournament making it the first year since the tournaments inception in 2000 that it was not hosted by the University of the Virgin Islands. 2017s Jam was hosted in Lynchburg Virginia.

 

     Defending men's champions Colorado Buffaloes did not participate this year, and neither did the defending women's champions, West Virginia.

     The favorite to win this year's men's tournament was the Kansas State Wildcats a team competing in the Big 12 conference and a 12th seeds in the NCAA. The Wildcats had to go through 7 other teams which included, the Missouri Tigers, Kennesaw State Owls, Northern Iowa, Old Dominion, Penn Quakers, and Oregon State Beavers.

     The men's tournament tipped off at the UVI gym on November 16th at 2pm with Oregon State at Old Dominion. The championship was held on November 19th at 8:30.
